The H T Parekh Foundation (Foundation) was established in 2012, the birth centenary of Mr Hasmukh Thakordas Parekh (H. T. Parekh), the Founder Chairman of HDFC Limited*. The Foundation has evolved from its initial focus on education, healthcare, environment, and disability support to address contemporary challenges. As an independent domestic philanthropy, the Foundation today focuses on fostering climate-resilient urban environments, advancing children’s libraries & literature, and supporting select impactful projects that are unique or have an ecosystem-level impact. The H T Parekh Foundation’s philanthropic activities are aimed at enhancing the quality of life of people from marginalised and vulnerable communities and creating a stronger and inclusive India. The Foundation’s activities contributes to the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), outlined in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The goals are interconnected and the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another. The SDGs have now become a blueprint to help achieve and contribute to corporate responsibility and describe the measurable impact that our activities can have on improving the quality of life across the communities we serve.
